Shopping with Erzulie: Diamond Cosmetics Hypnotic

Hello ladies,

I hope everyone is enjoying the Winter Solstice. The eclipse inspired my sleeping hours. I dreamt I was in Africa walking through a bazaar with my friend Lisa. There were woven bowls with spiral patterns in the center. Within were hand made beads painted in a shiny glaze. The market was filled with many sparkling trinkets. There were piles of jewelry positioned in front of paintings, set in hammered silver frames.

I spoke with an academic couple on vacation. The husband was telling me about the Goddess Erzulie, who he described as the heart of the people. I enthusiastically replied: "Oh, she still is! She is beloved by all in the land." I woke up and discovered with a little research that Erzulie is the Goddess of Love, whose roots of tradition can be traced to West Africa. Apparently, I went shopping with Erzulie in my dreams.

I created this manicure with Erzulie in mind. I chose fimo flowers with spiral centers to echo the pattern I saw in my dream. Wanting to call to mind flowers floating in a stream, I worked with a cool tone palette. With Konad grey pearl Princess polish, I stamped the flowers from plate T41. Despite the name, this stamping polish is a grey lilac. I felt like I could not stop myself from adding sparkle; Each nail has a purple jewel, a rainbow crystal, a lavender pearl and a silver bead as ornaments.

This polish is eye catching. It's an oceanic green with a hint of blue. There is a beautiful fine shimmer that comes alive in sunlight. Two coats brought perfect opacity. Hypnotic is likely to be a coveted shade.

Have any of you ladies been having interesting dreams recently?

Hypnotic was sent to me for review. This polish is part of the Winter Collection, available for purchase in the US at diamondcosmetics.com. Keep an eye on boozyshop.nl for international availability.

Image plate T41 was provided for my consideration. To explore the full line of nail art stamping plates, please visit chez-delaney.com.

Happy painting, ladies!

  2. Ahhh, makes me long for warmer weather.

I've been having strange dreams recently - maybe the full moon. Although nothing is stranger than the dreams one has while pregnant.. there were some doozies then.

  3. Oh it's such a lovely mani! I had an interesting dream this morning. But I've already forgotten it at the moment. It had something to do with parties, and couples...lol..sounds kinky, right? But I can't seem to remember, what it was all about now. I do know that I'm reading The Great Gatsby at the moment. And am wondering if that's why I dreamed about parties, and couples. I did wait for the eclipse last night. Although it was a bust! With all of the clouds in the night sky. Couldn't see a thing! Yet,it did produce an ethereal glow in the night sky, very lovely.

  7. Great manicure! I would say it IS dream inspired. The multi-dimensional look of it shows depth and wonderment.

My dreams are so vivid. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't be, but they lose their hold shortly upon awakening. I did have a dream where I created a stamping nail look. I recreated it and posted about it.

  11. Fascinating dream. You've captured Erzulie just beautifully. My dreams have been so disjointed lately. I usually don't remember my dreams. Once in awhile I have a vivid and interesting dream. I hate the ones that make me feel very sad when I wake up. I don't remember all of the dream just a part that upsets me.
